Nathan James Lehmburg
25 - Survivor
History: Nathan grew up like any boy in Senoia, Ga. Being from a small town everyone knew everyone and it was only a matter of time before he got stuck doing what everyone else was doing. After high school Nathan set his sights on going to a college out of town. Athens, known for its party schools seemed like a good place to start. With not so shabby grades Nathan had to study extremely hard for the SAT and managed to pull off a pretty decent score. During trips home Nathan became increasingly aware of his mother's growing infatuation with one of her business partners. The man was always at the house when he came home during the holidays. He didn't know the man had a daughter until he stopped in for Christmas. Things seemed to be moving pretty fast but anything he said to his mother went in one ear and out the other.
Nathan got pretty involved in partying while at school and made a few bad decisions along the way. He experimented with alcohol and drugs, something he's not proud to admit, but it never got out of control. During one small stint while drinking, however, he did hit his step father after the man bad mouthed his mother and shoved her to the ground. No charges were pressed but after that episode Nathan only came home when it was absolutely necessary.
He didn't attend his mother's wedding and only sent a text telling her how bad an idea it was. After graduating from college with a business management degree he had to return home to find a job. He hated being stuck in the same home as his step father but he had to do what he had to. During that time he got to know his step sister and realized that she wasn't as horrible as her father. After landing a job as a manager at a local clothing store, he quickly moved out and into his own apartment.
The year he lived on his own was a blur. He spent more time working than he did at home. His mother would call him every day and he'd visit when he had the time. Usually he'd find an excuse to not go over because he'd always get into some sort of argument with his step father. The man was a low life who thought he knew every thing. He was controlling toward his mother and his daughter Kadie. When he tried to point this out to his mother she'd defend her husband. It became a cycle and after a few failed attempts he stopped caring. Or so he told her. It was during this time that he resorted to drinking again. It became a way for him to ignore his problems and those of his mother.
When the infection started Nathan thought it was a joke or an ad for a movie. When sirens began to blare outside and people started getting shot in the streets, he couldn't turn a blind eye. Packing up what little he could carry, he jumped in his car and headed to his mother's house. By that time the entire neighborhood had been set on fire by people trying to burn the biters inside. It was complete chaos.
Finding his mother bleeding from her neck and dying isn't something Nathan wants to see again. Up until that point he hadn't crossed any of the dead but when his step father tried to attack him he fought back. It felt good to let go and pummel the man to death. He didn't know that his step sister Kadie had seen the entire scene.
Leaving her by herself wasn't an option he could live with. After gathering some of her things they set out on their own. They heard there was a camp set up in Atlanta but they never made it that far. Stuck on the road somewhere between Senoia and Athens, Nathan has been trying to keep both him and his annoying sister alive.
