39 - main atlanta crew
Personality: Level-headed. Determined, Optimistic, Reasonable, Hardworking, Protective
History: Married Life:
Growing up in King County, Georgia, Rick was your typical southern father. He worked hard as a sheriff to pay the bills and keep a roof over his family's head. He dated and married Lori and soon after welcomed their first child into the world. They named him Carl. It was Rick's first choice and it stuck.
Marriage life, in a nutshell, had its ups and downs. Rick worked hard, too hard perhaps. Long hours spent in the field and not much time spent at home put a definate strain on his relationship with Lori and they slowly began to drift apart. Rick would spend long hours at the office filing police reports and 'working." Work made sense in a world that didn't. He would never admit that he was avoiding the problems at home, when in actuality that was exactly what he was doing. Before his world literally came crashing down around him, Rick and Lori were very close to filing for a divorce.
The Accident:
Rick prided himself on his ability to predict the unexpected; especially when it came to his job. When a third gun man succeeded in shooting him during a road side shoot out, Rick had only himself to blame. Left in a coma in the local hospital, Rick was entirely unaware of the chaos brewing around him. He briefly remembers hearing Carl's voice...and Lori's. He remembers the ugly vase filled with flowers and seeing Shane. He doesn't remember much else but the sound of his own voice as he woke up a few weeks later.
The Realization:
The new world didn't make sense. He thought he was dreaming at first. There was no way the dead walked; that everyone was gone. He moved around in dream land for hours before the thud of iron colliding with skull brought him back to reality. The dead were walking. Everyone was gone; including his family. Rick couldn't believe it. With the help of Morgan Jones and his son Duane, Rick finally began to realize just what was happening. He quickly sought to find his family. With a quarter tank of gas in the local police car and a bag filled with guns, Rick took to the road.
