Eve knew she shouldn't leave Old Fort Jackson by herself, but she didn't want to bother anyone with this. It was silly and dangerous, but she felt like going home just a while. In the days following the beginning of the outbreak Eve had left Atlanta with Finn to look for her parents here in Savannah. They were dead like pretty much everyone Eve knew and she didn't have the chance then to be home at that time. Everything was happening too fast and they took off as soon as it became obvious there was no one left. She decided to visit her childhood home one last time. Close that chapter of her life. Eve felt like it was necessary closure in some form.
The house she was born and raised in was large and she had a lot of good memories of that place. It was sad to look at it now and find it nearly destroyed. It had been looted; the grass in the front yard was high and the garage had collapsed in itself. It wasn't a nice ending for her childhood home, not after everything she experienced there and all the loved that was put in that place.
Eve didn't stay at the house long. She knew she needed to be off the streets before nightfall. She searched the rooms for childhood memories and only found a fading picture of better times. It was enough. She left after a while and made her way back to Fort Jackson. Her home now.
On her way home she crossed Forsyth Park. It was rather empty and it always felt odd to see the place like that. It used to be such a beautiful and happy place. Now, it was deserted and the smell of decay filled the air. It fitted the new status quo, though. Eve picked up her pace as she neared the park. It was empty, but that could change at any minute and she just wanted to make it back before people realized she was gone and thought she had walked out on them.
