The forest that surrounded Raye was thick, and there was not a lot of movement. However some birds could be heard in the distance waking up to do their morning serenade. It was actually a peaceful sound. Pushing her way through the thick, Raye did not stop, she would not stop until she was where she wanted to be. But really she did not know where that was. The gun that was strapped to her hip was now in her right hand as she moved. A knife also settled on her hip, it was still in its sheath. She had not come across anyone in the recent days that was worth her time nor her having the pleasure of being around. It was more or less her, for three months. In some ways that was what she liked, not having to take care of other folks, but then again it was that she wanted to know that there were still good people out there.
But then, Raye stopped moving. Her ears perking up as she heard the leaves move to her left. She halted but not for long, replacing her gun on her, she seen the walker as it came into view about thirty yards away from her. She sprinted now, not really wanting to waste effort in knifing it, nor using a bullet. That was something that she had learned the noise attracted them. And too much of it could be deadly. Her legs carried her far enough in little time that the walker was now out of sight. Most likely tripped over something and was having a hard time getting back up. She was not going back to check either, she knew when to leave well enough alone.
